New Teachers News Story

For the first episode of the 2019 BBA News, Mary, Adam, Cece, and I interviewed the new teachers and faculty members. The first challenge that we encountered was that we weren't sure exactly who the new teachers were and how many there were. We eventually found a list in a Manchester Journal article and we also found out about others. However, once we contacted all of the teachers, all of the interviews went very smoothly. None of them took longer than five minutes and teachers were very excited to be a part of it. I learned a few new things about using the tripod during this. I found out that there is a small circle that acts as balance so that the shot is not unbalanced. I also learned how important it is to

communicate with the people the you are interviewing. We ran into a problem finding one of the teachers because we had a miscommunication on where we were meeting. I also did the introduction and the closing for this news segment, which was harder than I thought it was going to be. It was only three sentences but it was hard to keep a straight face and act natural. However, I enjoyed doing this and I thought it turned out well.

Filming B-Roll

After I was done with my role in the New Teachers story, I went to film b-roll for Liz's Spiral Press story. I was worried that I was not going to get good enough footage for her story, so I took some other people so that we would be able to consult each other. It was very different than other things I have done before, but it was nice because I learn some new things and I felt like I gained more independence in operating the camera.
